In Sanskrit, yoga means to “yoke” or be in union of your individual consciousness (ego) with your higher consciousness (your soul or true self). Yoga has “8 branches” or the 8- fold path including the most known, ASANA, or movement; PRANAYAMA, or breath control; PRATYAHARA, or sense withdraw; DHARANA, or concentration; DHYANA, or meditation; and SAMADHI, a state of unity. The last two branches are known as the ethics of yoga: YAMAS, or restraints and NIYAMAS or observances.
“I received my 200 hr YTT at Kripalu in 2018 and have been helping others find their true selves through the 8-fold path of yoga. I enjoy teaching groups but also love working one on one to dig deeper and apply these branches to your everyday life. Practicing yoga has personally helped me build skills in my life such as self-acceptance, self-compassion, and forming my boundaries so I can respect my limits and meet my needs. After all, we are our ultimate healers. The answer is never outside of you. It is always found within.”
